Nashville Trip Recap

​While the town of Oxford, Mississippi may not have a whole lot going on outside of an Ole Miss game and its town square, it has easy access to visit surrounding cities. Sitting down and talking out the trips that needed to happen between the last year and a half of our college career, my friends and I chose Nashville as the move for spring break. With its country music history and eclectic atmosphere, it seemed like the perfect new place to explore this spring. It may not have been the stereotypical spring break that people have, but it was so special to have some laughs and explore with some of my best friends. ​

Day 1:
We arrived at the Airbnb and were pleasantly surprised at how great the house ended up being! The location was easy to navigate to all the different neighborhoods that make up Nashville. A happy accident on the way to dinner later, we wound up at Burger Up for our first meal with a convenient stop for dessert next door at The Soda Parlor. My classic hamburger, whether it was because we hadn’t eaten since Oxford or not, was possibly the best burger I’d ever had. The great food that we had that first night became a common trend.

Day 2:
On a rainy first day, we went downtown to The Stillery for lunch (10/10 recommend the pizza) and then wandered down to the Country Music Hall of Fame. As a music junkie, anywhere that shows the history and purpose behind someone’s music or songwriting is a must see. By days end, I’d seen Elvis’ solid gold Cadillac and satisfied my cookie dough obsession at No Baked. It was there that the cashier asked if I was the mom of the group. It may have been the beret I was wearing that made me look like a troop leader, but I was pretty proud!

Day 3:
The well-known wall mural destination, 12th South, was our first stop for day three. With some inspiration from being in Reese Witherspoon's store (Draper James), I somehow found the courage to buy my first ever yellow piece of clothing. A first-time cronut experience from Five Daughters Bakery and doing some “sad exits” from the other stores on 12th South later ($$$$- omg), we ended up doing some thrift shopping. Those stops included the 8th Avenue Antique Mall where I found some new vinyl (Dr. Hook and Stevie Wonder’s Innervisions album) and maybe the coolest shop I’ve ever been to, Pre to Post Modern. It felt like you could find just about anything from any decade in that store. While I was there I picked up a dress from the eighties and a new band tee featuring the Steve Miller Band. 

Day 4:
After getting up and around, we went to Biscuit Love for breakfast and shopped around Hillsboro Village. It was there that I found a book to catalog "music listography". We then left and ventured to The Gulch, home to the “wing mural” which we had to stop at because #PPLAM. A quick change later and we were headed to the Grand Ole Opry.  Between Daily & Vincent doing a cover of Why Not Me by The Judd’s and listening to Bless the Broken Road performed live by Rascal Flatts, the whole thing was fantastic!

Day 5:
For our last full day, we took to Pinewood Social for breakfast. Sometimes you just need a good waffle and this place had that and more! A few more shopping stops later and I had a Project 615 Nashville t-shirt and a new sticker to add to my laptop. Even with the 40-degree weather, we went up to the Pedestrian Bridge and to the Parthenon to take some pictures. After that, the girls couldn’t go any longer without coffee so we went back to 12th South to the Frothy Monkey. As the non-coffee drinker, I opted for the chai latte with a "donut muffin" - which was as good as it sounds!!
